Dorothy Alexander, 88, of Electra passed away Monday, June 15, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First United methodist Church of Electra with Rev. Bob Lee, pastor, and Rev. Tom Medley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Howe officiating. Interment will be held in Electra Memorial Park.
Mrs. Alexander was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Bluff Dale, to Read F. and Maude Landers Wharnock. She graduated from Stephenville High school and the North Texas University in Denton with a degree in education. While attending college she was employed as a secretary for a State Representative. She and JC Alexander were married Feb. 6, 1949, in Vernon. They made their home in Electra, where she was a fifth grade teacher for one year. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Alexander Construction. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was a life member of First United Methodist Women. She served in all capacities of every committee and organization in the church. She was one of the pioneers for the Meals on Wheels program in Electra.
Survivors include her husband of Electra; a daughter, Carol Green of Iowa Park; two sons, Larry of Arlington and Stanley of Electra; a sister, Verlyn Jaresh of Benbrook; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and six step-great-grandchildren.
