Mary Clara Bussey Whatley, age 83, of Electra, Texas passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, in the Electra Heath Care Center.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with Charles Nichols, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Mary was born March 20, 1926 in Burkburnett, the youngest of Floyd and Venona’s five daughters.

She and Alton Lee Whatley were married M ay of 1943 after they graduated from Holliday High School.

Mary loved cooking, traveling, fishing, camping and especially card games.

She is survived by her sister, Floyce McCullough of Abilene, ; one daughter, Janice Kennedy of Laguna Park; two sons, Gary Whatley of Iowa Park, and Weldon Whatleyof Glenrose; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Hester Simco, Jewell Garrett, and Eula Mae Thornton.
