George W. White

Lt. Col. George W. White (ret.), 71, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, June 20.
Services were held Wednesday at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Claude Hendricks officiating.
Interment with full military honors followed at Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. White was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Baldwyn, MS., to George W. and Lorraine Duncan White. He graduated high school in Yorktown, Va., and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He entered the United States Air Force in 1960, attending the Air Force Aviation Cadet School in Harlingen, and continued to serve until 1989. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and Wichita Falls Radio Control Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and building and flying radio controlled airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole White in 1978; father and stepmother, George and Addie Mae White; mother and stepfather, Lorraine and L.T. McCullough.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J.; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Symes of Brantford, Ontario, Canada; a son, Thomas Wayne of Weatherford; three stepdaughters, Cheryl Ann Bills of Iowa Park, Cindy Renae Dorman of Tahoka, and Connie Jan Nolen of Wichita Falls; two half-brothers, Wallace White of The Woodlands, and William McCullough of Conway, Ar.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to Texoma Cancer Center, or to the American Cancer Society, lung research division.
