Roxie H. Lawson, 93, of Electra passed away Saturday, June 21, in Electra.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the First Assembly of God of Electra with her niece, Sharon McClure and her nephew, Hugh McClure of Coalinga, California and Darwin Stroud, Pastor of the First Assembly of God, officiating.
Interment followed in the Old Electra Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Mrs. Lawson was born September 21, 1914 in Electra, to Hugh Edward McClure and Lee Ola Scales McClure. After graduating high school, she received her LVN license and was employed by the Vernon State Hospital. She was the secretary-treasurer of the AARP and a member of the First Assembly of God. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by one son, Benford Hugh Lawson on March 25, 1978; one brother, Ira Andrew McClure on June 5, 1993; and one sister, Virginia Eakin on January 9, 2006.
Survivors include one daughter, Lee Able of Electra; two brothers, Henry McClure of Electra, and A.J. McClure of Dallas; one sister, Willie Lee Darter of Iowa Park; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Clayton Curry, Earl Eakin, Greg Lynn, Harold McClure, Sammy Mason, and Kim Ray.
