Joyce Spruiell

Joyce Evelyn Spruiell, 86, died on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Joyce was born on June 20, 1930 in her Grandparent’s (VR Wigley) house in Iowa Park. She Grew up in in Iowa Park; graduated from Iowa Park High in 1948. Joyce married Glen Spruiell of Iowa Park at the original First Christian Church in Iowa Park on November 19, 1949; and were faithful members for their entire 66 years of marriage. At the time of her passing, Joyce was the longest tenured member of the church’s congregation. Their lives, marriage, dedication and love for each and to family and friends have been an inspiration for everyone who has known them.

Joyce enjoyed spending her time with various hobbies, activities and interests. She worked for White’s Auto in their corporate offices in Wichita Falls as a payroll clerk and was a former Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) member; Room Mother for children’s school events; attending children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting, school, band, cheerleading, dance and other activities and events; attending family reunions; cooking amazing meals for family and friends; attending area Bluegrass musical events; visiting their large network of family and friends; and traveling anywhere and everywhere with Glen behind the wheel.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 6 at 2pm at the First Christian Church in Iowa Park, with Pastor Landon Winstead presiding. Burial followed at the Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruth (Wigley) Robertson.
Surviving relatives include her husband Glen of the home; brother Loyd (Jerry) Robertson and wife Joy of Iowa Park; three children, Becky House and husband Wendall of Iowa Park, Steve Spruiell and wife Carol of Dallas, and Stan Spruiell and wife Paula of Wichita Falls; Four grandchildren, Philip House and wife Amy of Baton Rouge LA, Lindsay Reyes and husband Felix of San Marcos TX, Ross Spruiell of San Francisco CA, and Ryan Spruiell of Wichita Falls; and four great-grandchildren, Graham, Ceclia Grace and Beatrice House, and Lily Reyes.

Honored pallbearers will be Philip House, Ross Spruiell, Ryan Spruiell and Felix Reyes from the family and friends Donnie Cavinder and Ricky Shook.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the excellent care and consideration that was given to our family from the staff at Rolling Meadows, the Gables Nursing Center at Rolling Meadows, and Hospice.
