Wesley Eugene Mills, Sr.
1932 - 2012

Wesley Eugene Mills, Sr., 80, of Wichita Falls, died Monday, July 2.

Funeral services were held Saturday, in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.

Interment with full military honors followed at Crestview Memorial Park.

A son of the late Alice Irene (Adams) and Wesley Benjamin Mills, Wesley was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Wichita Falls. He and Patricia Marie Meadows were married on June 12, 1956, in Wichita Falls at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Wesley served in the United States Army in the Special Forces Green Beret for twenty-one years prior to his retirement. During these years he received the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Medal, Vietnamese Parachutist Badge, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Vietnamese Service Medal with one Silver and three Bronze Service Stars.

He also received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin), Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Clasp, Bronze, Figure “5” Loops, Vietnamese Cross Gallantry with Palms, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Wesley’s last overseas service was in Viet Nam. Following his retirement from the Army, Wesley worked a number of years at Vetrotex Certain-teed. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Lou; brother, Bobby Mills; and his wife of over fifty-five years, Patty Mills.

He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Ray Mills, Wesley E. Mills, Jr., all of Wichita Falls, and Scott Mills of Lampasas; two daughters, Cindy Beasley, and Vicki Mills, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Jimmy Mills of Longview; sisters, Betty Eaton of Illinois, Jeanetta Moore of Kamay, Peggy Brand of Illinois, and Kathy Whitely of Graham;12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
