Gladice Lorraine Charles Brown Meisel, 91, of Texhoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls, passed away Friday, July 9.
Memorial services were held Sunday at the Kamay Church of Christ.
Funeral service will be held at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home of Richmond, Illinois. Interment will be at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Meisel was born Aug. 2, 1918, to the late William Charles and Nanna Wasson Charles in Langlade County, Wisconsin. She lived in McHenry County, Illinois most of her life until moving to Valley View, in 1999 to live with her son and his wife.
After Howard, her first husband’s death, she moved to Chicago where she worked as a photographer in a nightclub. While living in Chicago, she met Kenneth, her husband of 45 years. After marrying Kenneth on Dec. 24, 1946, she and her two sons, James William and Jerry Lee moved to Richmond, IL., to be near Kenneth’s family. Her sons later changed their last name to Meisel. Kenneth and Gladice were the owners and operators of the Arrow Aluminum Foundry in Woodstock, IL. After retiring they lived in Oshkosh, WI., for 4 years until Kenneth passed away in Jan. 1992 and Gladice returned to Woodstock to live with her son and his wife, James William and Marianne Meisel. Her son, James, passed away in 1998. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Grace Lutheran Churches of Richmond and Woodstock, IL. and the Kamay Church of Christ.
Her daughter-in-law, Jobeth and her granddaughter, Renee Dickerson, passed away in 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Nute, Bessie, Eva, Leetta, Ethel, Elvena, Frank and Violet.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Meisel of Valley View; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
