Joe A. Philips
1933 - 2015

Joe A. Philips, 82, of Iowa Park, passed away Thursday, July 2, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday, at the First Baptist Church in Kamay with his brother, Lemuel Phillips, and brother-in-law, Mike Birdwell, officiating.

Interment followed in Dundee Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Joe was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Dundee to parents, Rufus Phillips and Opal Cavener Phillips. He married Nita Johnette Birdwell Aug. 13, 1952, in Henrietta. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from American Petrofina and then worked contract pumping until 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, John.

Survivors include wife, Johnette of Iowa Park; children, Ricky Phillips of Gainesville and Randel Phillips of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Lemuel Phillips of College Station and Hank Phillips of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Ruby Robinson of Seymour and Mildred Phillips of Ada, OK; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, or to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
