Loyd Malcolm Bell, 72, formerly of Iowa Park, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Greenville, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, at Jan Lee Baptist Church, Burkburnett, with Pastor Mark Simons officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Bell was born in Iowa Park on August 15, 1939. He was the son of the late Loyd Bell and Gladys Ruth Marie Woody Bell. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with the Wake County Public Schools. He served as president for three years of the Wake County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.).
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity, N.C., where he served as a deacon. In his spare time, he “loved to talk theology.”
On June 3, 1973, he married the former Betty Jo Tripp.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judith Lynn Bell Brewer of Wichita Falls, Mary Eileen Bell Wrzesinski of Fort Worth, and Kathleen Marie Bell McCommas of Arlington; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 230 N.C. Hwy. 33 West, Chocowinity, N.C. 27817.
