He graduated from Olney High School in 1963, and married Kathleen Kay (Kathy) Smith on Oct. 31, 1964, in Wichita Falls. They set up home in Olney, but moved to Iowa Park in 1966, where they were members of Faith Baptist Church. He volunteered with the NWTF to provide hunting trips for children and disabled veterans. He was a member of the Agape Barrel Fellowship Sunday School class.
