Russell ‘Chet’ Vernon Adkins, 72, died Saturday, July 31, in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services were held Monday at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Mr. Adkins was born March 25, 1938, in Green Mountain, N. C. to Roy and Ethel Wilson Adkins. He attended Faith Baptist Church. He and Lillian Todd were married Oct. 6, 1981 in Waurika, OK. He served in the US Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base. He was a manager for Skaggs Alpha Beta Drug Stores in Dallas.

His father and mother preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Iowa Park; a son, Russell Dean Adkins of Wichita Falls; a step-daughter, Julie Stewart of Lake Dallas; a step-son, Rick Tatom of Mineola; a sister, Delores Lilly of Johnson City, TN.; two brothers, Raymond Adkins of Marion, N. C. and Donald Adkins of Erwin, TN.; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
