Erna Bernhardt Mahler
1921 - 2010

Erna Bernhardt Mahl er, 88, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Services were held Friday at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Dr. Jon Eckstein, Pastor, officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mahler was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Archer County and was a longtime resident of Iowa Park. She and Clarence Mahler were married Dec. 7, 1945, in Wichita Falls. She was a nurses’ aide at Wichita Falls State Hospital, retiring in 1987. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, and was very active in Friendly Door Senior Citizens. In 1985, she received the Helen Farabee Award as Mental Health Worker of the Year. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and crocheting, and was an accomplished seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, June 29, 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Aquilla (Mahler) Carrillo-Miranda of Iowa Park and Darlene Mahler of Jenks, OK.; son, Barry Mahler of Iowa Park; two sisters, Elenor Robinson of Maryland and Elizabeth Parker of Dallas; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Building Expansion Fund, 201 E. Bank Street, Iowa Park, 76367, or Friendly Door Senior Citizens, 810 North 3rd. Street, Iowa Park, Texas 76367.
