Oma Lee Griffin
Oma Lee Griffin, 86, of Iowa Park, TX died August 11, 2007 in Wichita Falls, TX.
Services were Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park. Rev. Dennis Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery ( Byers, TX. ). Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lee was born on March 9, 1921 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Dwight M. and Betty B. (Bizzell) Roark. She graduated from Henrietta High School, then married James M. Griffin in June of 1940 in Duncan, Oklahoma. They traveled the world while he was in the military and settled in Wichita Falls in 1960. The Wichita Falls State Hospital had employed Lee as the Supervisor of Central Kitchen, retiring in 1973. She was, also, a homemaker and leaves behind a large family and many loved ones. Oma Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, a son; Joe Allen Griffin,two grandchildren; Devin Buckmaster and Deanne Griffin, two brothers; Dwight (Rosey) Roark Jr. and Nobel Roark.
Survivors include three sons; James M. Griffin, Jr.and wife Sharon K. of Fayetteville, AR, Gene E. Griffin and wife Judy of Waskom, TX, Ron D. Griffin of Galveston, TX, 1 daughter; Kay Buckmaster of Iowa Park, TX, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Ethel Musick of Burleson, TX and Dorothy Smith of Burkburnett, TX, 3 sisters-in-law; Ina Roark, Faye Davis and Jannell Griffin and 1 brother-in-law; Ray Griffin.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Hospice, Iowa Park Friendly Door or the Texas State Library Recording for the Blind.
