J C Alexander, 88, of Electra passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, in Electra.
Services were held Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Electra with Rev. Bob Lee, Pastor, and Rev. Mike Miller Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment was held in Electra Memorial Park.
Mr. Alexander was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Dunlap, TN., to Charles Walter Alexander and Mabel Clara Lewis Alexander. He moved to Electra in 1929 and graduated from Electra High School. After graduation, he worked in the oilfield. During World War II, he served in the United Statse Army in the Pacific Theater for two years. When his tour of duty was completed, he returned to Electra and worked for an oil field supply company for two years.
He then started working for his father at Alexander Construction Company building houses. He designed and built the First United Methodict Church. He also built St. Paul’s Catholic Church and over 120 homes in Electra, before he retired in 1988. He and Dorothy Fay Warnock were married Feb. 6, 1949, in Vernon. She preceded him in death June 15, 2009. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Electra Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf.
He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Green of Iowa Park; two sons, Larry of Arlington, and Stanley of Electra; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and six step-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Box-846, Electra, Tx. 76360.
