George Norman Key
1927 - 2015

George Norman Key, Sr. 87, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, in Iowa Park.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Following the services, graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home.

George was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Barnum to Olan and Opal (Starnes) Key. He married Mildred Vinson on March 8, 1951, in Tahoka. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for 40 years as a ranch foreman for the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company. He was County Commissioner for King County and a School Board member in Guthrie. In Iowa Park, he volunteered at the Friendly Door Senior Citizens Center and delivered food for Meals on Wheels. He served as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Dumont, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, George Key, Jr.
Survivors include his sons, Hugh Key of Abilene, and Charles Key of Lubbock; one brother, Bill of Seminole; one sister, Dorothy of Tahoka; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Friendly Door Senior Citizens Center for the Meals on Wheels program.
