Herbert A. Hensley
1914 - 2008
Herbert A. Hensley, 94, a former resident of Iowa Park, passed away Saturday, August 16, in a Taylor Nursing Home.
Services were held Tuesday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Hertless of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale, officiating. Burial was held in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mr. Hensley was born Jan. 15, 1914, to William Harvey and Lela Agnes (Burnett) Hensley, in Mexia. He and Jessie B. Baker were married Sept. 29, 1929, in Mexia. She preceded him in death Jan. 9, 1988. He retired as a mechanist for Wilson Manufactory in Wichita Falls in 1969. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching football and baseball. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale, where he moved to from Iowa Park in 1974.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Morris, and Harvey; and a sister, Mable Harris.
Survivors include a son, Lynn Carlett Hensley of Round Rock; a daughter, Josette Rabun of Knoxville, TN.; a sister, Mildred Soileau of Bridge City; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
