Billye McCray
1931 - 2010

Billye McCray, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 22.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home with Charlie Thomason, preaching minister of Faith Village Church of Christ, officiating.

Mrs. McCray was born July 6, 1931, to Chester William and Martha Melissa (Thurman) Bryant, in Throckmorton County. She and Earl “Mack” McCray were married April 27, 1950. He preceded her in death April 11, 2008. She graduated Iowa Park High School, where she excelled in volleyball. She and her husband enjoyed singing together. They owned and performed at Guys and Dolls in Wichita Falls. She composed and recorded “Midnight Train” and it was sent official recognition from Nashville, TN., for her talent. She held her real estate license and modeled for Willow Tree. She was a long time member of Faith Village Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sons, Danny and Keith, both of Wichita Falls, and Kenny of San Antonio; a daughter, Julie McCray-Smith of Wichita Falls; a step-daughter, Sharon Holiday of Anaheim, CA.; two sisters, Gaynell Amos of Mountain Home, AR., and Jerry Gostnell of Dallas; twin brother, Dorman Bryant of McRae, AR.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
