James Wafer McNeese
1923 - 2010
James Wafer McNeese, 87, of Iowa Park, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, in Wichita Falls.
Mr. McNeese was born June 20, 1923, in Tahoka. He married Melba Ruth Whitfield on Jan. 2, 1943. She preceded him in death April 21, 2000. He married Darla Dean Darter Brown, June 2, 2001. He was an ordained minister in the Church of God who pastored all over the state of Texas, and lived in Burkburnett, for 30 years where he pastored 10 years . He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II as a sergeant, and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Lakeview Church of God with Rev. William Carnley of Wichita Falls and Dr. Gary Don Sands of Arlington, officiating. Interment followed in Burkburnett Cemetery, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.
Survivors include wife, Darla (Darter) McNeese, of Iowa Park; three sons, James Doyle of Dayton, Tommy Dewayne of Manhattan, KS., and David Ray of Burkburnett; a daughter, Deborah McNeese of Arlington; two sisters, Louise Gilstrap of Arlington, and Juanita Osborn of Big Spring; nine grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
