Mary Alice Kuykendall Burris, 93, died Saturday, August 23, in Wichita Falls.

Services were held Monday at Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel with David Hall officiating. Burial was held in Sunset Cemetery.

Mrs. Burris was born May 18, 1915, to James Franklin and Katie Blache Harvey Kuykendall, near Saint Jo. She spent most of her childhood in Clay County, where she attended schools at Rock Springs, Henrietta, Lone Star and Pleasant Ridge School in Montague County. She and Troyet Emory Burris were married Dec. 25, 1935, in Sunset. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1993, from Montague County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Kay Burris, a grandson, Owen Randall Leitner; brothers, Edwin and Velton Kuykendall; and sisters Vista Burris, Marie McQuaid, Juanelle Hughes, Ruby Tucker, and an infant sister.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Burris of Wichita Falls, Norma Laitner of Elm Mott, and Carolyn Whitaker of Iowa Park; a sister, Mildred Ragsdale of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
