Thomas James “Tom” Lowry, 83, of Cashion died Sunday, Sept. 1, at Hospice in Wichita Falls.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Lawson officiating.
Thomas was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Scranton, PA., to Bert and Catherine Lowry. He joined the Air Force in 1949 and was stationed at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired in Aug. 1975, and went to work for Mosler Safe Company. He retired from Mosler in 1995.
He and Dorothy Carol Davis were married Dec. 8, 1950 in Waco. He was active in the community of Cashion and incorporated Cashion Community, where he served as mayor for several years. He served on the Friberg-Cooper Water Board and organized the Friberg-Cooper Volunteer Fire Department and served as chairman of the board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Scott in 2006.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Lowry, Jr. of Iowa Park, and Bert Lowry of Cashion; a sister, Lorraine Del Monte of Colorado Springs, CO.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to Friberg-Cooper Fire Department or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
