LaVay Bernhardt Hamm, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 4, in Graham.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Ladd Johnston, pastor of Faith Center Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial was held in Jean cemetery.

Mrs. Hamm was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Jean, to the late Robert Bethel and Ruth Mae (Grubbs) Buffington. She and Vernon L. Hamm were married Feb. 5, 1976, in Artesia, N.M. She moved to Graham in 1993 from El Paso. She was a nurse and later a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and encouraging others to read.

Survivors include her husband, of Graham; a son, Steve Bernhardt of Iowa Park; a daughter, Gaye Layland of Graham; two sisters, Bobbie Schmidt of Holliday, and Ann Pope of North Richland Hills; and three grandsons.
