Clarence C. Collier
1921 - 2010
Clarence C. Collier, 89, passed away Friday, Sept. 10.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Archer City Cemetery in Archer City, with Rev. John Barnes, officiating.
Mr. Collier was born April 7, 1921, in Iowa Park to the late Thurman and Elcie (Timmons) Collier. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and in 1942, joined the United States Army where he served as a Corporal in the 9th Infantry and was awarded the Bronze Star medal and the Purple Heart.
He also worked in the oilfields many years and later retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety where he worked in maintenance for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie; a daughter, Meynor Loy; two brothers, Barto Collier and Wayne Eric Collier; and his step mother, Pearl Martin.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Liggett and Wanda Kilgo; a sister, Vonnie Ballenger; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
