Kenneth Warren Wilson
1932 - 2012

Kenneth Warren Wilson, 79, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, in Crowell.

Services were held Monday at the Womack-Manard Funeral Home Chapel, Crowell, with Rev. Carl Rhodes officiating. Interment was held in Crowell Cemetery.

Kenneth was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Quanah, to Berley Emmert and Alma Cornelia Smith Wilson. He and Mary Lou Denton were married Sept. 29, 1956, in Lawton, OK. He worked at TXI Industries in Bridgeport until moving to Crowell, where he worked as a plumber until retirement. After retirement he worked part time at Copper Breaks State Park in Quanah. He was a member of Bethel Church of Crowell. In later years he joined an Assembly of God Church in Chico where he played his guitar, accompanied by his wife, for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing his guitar, and eating. He played the guitar, taught to him by his father, and a bass fiddle that was custom made for him out of maple by a carpenter. In the early 1950s, he played in a country and western band. They played at local organizations, functions, clubs, high school, church on Sunday, and live on KOLJ radio station in Quanah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elvin, Charles, and Harold; and a son, Travis Warren Wilson, on April 13, 2009.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Deryl of Crowell; two daughters, Donna Nickell of Ennis and Dena Dannelley of Iowa Park; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Inc., 4909 Johnson, Rd., Wichita Falls, Tx., 76310; Cancer Foundation of Crowell; Foard Country Veterans; Memorial Wall; or Crowell Cemetery.
