Jewell Waldrep
1921 - 2007
Jewell Waldrep, 86, of Lubbock, the mother of the late Barbara Ann Britt, passed away Sept. 17, at Covenant Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home with Dale Mannon officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Waldrep was born July 24, 1921, in Love County, OK to Mary (Cordelia) and Daniel Lang. She grew up in Marietta, OK where she attended school and worked on the family farm from an early age. On May 10, 1942, she was married to John J. Waldrep. He preceded her in death in 1995. They lived in Bridgeport for 23 years, then moved to Lubbock, following Mr. Waldrep’s work with the Texas Dept. of Agriculture. She was a member of South Plains Christian Fellowship and had operated a daycare in her home. She enjoyed attending church, sewing, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Horne and Danielle Lang; three brothers, Waymon, Claude, and Bennie Lang; a daughter, Barbara Ann Britt, who died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Joe Keith of Denton; two daughters Joanna Luckie of Lubbock and Glenda Wheeler of Shady Shores; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
