Lura Faye Burch Townsend
1923 - 2012

Lura Faye Burch Townsend, 89, of Iowa Park, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20.
Graveside services were held Monday in the Markley Cemetery in Markley, with Rev. Jon Eckstein of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Lura was born Feb. 25, 1923 in Markley to Charlie F. Burch, Sr. and Amanda Henryetta Evans Burch. She and George Sanders Townsend were married Aug. 6, 1941, in Walters, OK. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1995. She lived most of her life in the Valley View, Kamay area and lived in Archer City before moving to Iowa Park.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny on Nov. 15, 1993; a sister, Edwinona Corral on Jan. 24, 1994; a brother, in July 1914; twin brother, Louis Ray Burchon March 17, 1933; brothers, Burl Burch on Oct. 21, 1918, and Charlie F. Burch, Jr., on Oct. 25, 1998.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Archer City.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Davis of Iowa Park; a son, Michiel Townsend of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
