Johnny Freeman Bookout
1935 - 2017

Johnny Freeman Bookout, 81, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Church of God with Pastor Daniel Robertson officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Johnny was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Shelby County, to Thomas William and Jimmie Lillian (Adams) Bookout. He served his country as a reservist in the United States Marines. He and Naomi Ruth Downs were married June 17, 1961, in Wichita Falls. He worked for 15 years for White’s Auto in Wichita Falls and then Sealed Air Corporation (Cryovac), where he retired after 18 years. He enjoyed fishing and the Dallas Cowboys, as well as spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Bookout; one sister, Ruth Green; and one grandson, Randy Dillow.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Bookout of Iowa Park; three sons, Johnny Bookout Jr. and Tim Bookout, both of Iowa Park, and Steve Bookout of Midlothian; two brothers, Charles Ray Bookout of Chandler, AZ., and George Bookout of Houston; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to Lakeview Church of God in Iowa Park.
