Jimmie Frances Sadler Griffith, 96, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel, with longtime friend, Margie Negri of Iowa Park, officiating. Graveside services followed at Highland Cemetery Pavilion.
Jimmie was born March 16, 1916 in Oil Trough, AR. She was born to Leon Sadler and Louella Crowder Sadler. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Wichita Falls, where her family owned a small dairy and also raised turkeys. She attended school through the ninth grade when she was old enough to get a job and help out at home. She married Earl Stanley Griffith in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Jimmie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, a 60 year member of Rebekah Lodge #236, ABAW for over 50 years, NARFE for 20 years having worked at Sheppard AFB in civil service. She was a past president of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, past president of the Society of Federal Labor Relation Professionals, and worked with American Federation of Government Employees. She received numerous letters of recognition from the Texas Democratic Party. In 2003, she received Star Recognition from the Texas Democratic Women. She volunteered with Hospice of Wichita Falls and the American Cancer Society, S.A.C.K., and was team captain for two years for Relay for Life.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Bell Morgan and Sudda McLaughlin, both of Iowa Park, and Frances Lenox of Wichita Falls; a son, Gordon Walter Griffith of Iowa Park; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
