Dorothy Nell (Phillips) Beard, 86, longtime Iowa Park resident, passed away Oct. 6, in Mexia.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Park with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Dorothy was born May 27, 1925, in Navarro, to Wilburn Clifton and Elizabeth Rose (Moreau) Phillips. They preceded her in death. She was a high school graduate and attended business college for one year. She married Robert Beard in 1946. She worked in civil service at Reese Air Force Base for four years and retired in 1976 from Sheppard Air Force Base as an aircraft dispatcher. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park, Eastern Star No. 42, Daughters of The Nile, and Friendly Door Senior Citizens of Iowa Park.

Survivors include a son, Larry Beard of Iowa Park; one grandson; and two great grandchildren.
