Freda Marie (Holder) Beals, 83, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Davis officiating.
Graveside services followed at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Freda was born on Jan. 5, 1933, in Creda, OK., to George Newton Holder and Ruby Pearl (Sain) Holder. She graduated from Eldorado, OK., in 1951. After graduation she joined the US Air Force where she met and married James Donald “Don” Beals on Sept. 12, 1952 in Roswell, N. M. While in the Air Force, she worked as a Crypto Operator where she decoded top secret information for the military. She owned and operated the Dairy Palace, now known as Scobee’s Mini Mart. She became a paraprofessional for the Iowa Park CISD in 1982 and worked with the special needs children until retiring in 1999. She was member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Youth Sunday School for 28 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James and David Holder.
Survivors include her husband, Don Beals of Iowa Park; daughters, Donna Smith of Conroe, and Galyia Waters of Iowa Park; sons, James V. Beals and Daryl Beals, both of Iowa Park; five sisters, Louise Dollins, Gloria Haas, Shirley Zachary, Camilla Stephens, and Carolla Faye Lunney; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
