Billy Joe Dickerson
1929 - 2013

Billy Joe Dickerson, 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, in Irving.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spears officiating.

Interment followed at Highland Cemetery.

Billy Joe was born Oct. 18, 1929, to the late Robert Pickens and Bessie (Cause) Dickerson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Wichita County Water Improvement District 2, as a field supervisor, after 41 years of service. He was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was a volunteer at Hospice, Meals on Wheels, and home visits through his church.

He was also preceded in death by his wives, June Dickerson, Margie Dickerson, and Patricia Dickerson; a son, Billy Joe Dickerson, Jr.; four brothers, Stacey, Hill, Odest, and Melby; and a sister, Needie.

Survivors include three children, Eddy Ray Dickerson of Iowa Park, Rebecca Sue Kinnamon and Jeanna Martin, both of Irving; two brothers, Ray of Seminole, and R.B. of Mabank; a sister, Janette Beall of Iowa Park; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
