Thomas “Tom” Clark
1934 – 2008
Thomas Arthur “Tom” Clark, 74, a former Iowa Park resident, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, at his home in Maud, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Maud, with Rev. Wayne Taylor and Cody Clark, his grandson, officiating.
Mr. Clark was born June 27, 1934, in Wichita Falls to Willie Byrd (Poplin) Clark and Ollie Mart Clark. He graduated Old High in Wichita Falls in 1953. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army Reserve. He later worked as an electrician for Texas Electric as a lineman in Electra for 21 years. He then worked for Sonat Offshore Drilling Company, retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he worked as a reserve deputy as a Pilot for the Pottawatomie Sheriff’s Department. He and Billie (Castoe) Moody were married December 12, 1980, in Maud. He is a past president of the Lion’s Club in Electra, and was currently a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, where he was serving as church secretary of the Sunday School department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bryant Scott; a daughter, Tamara Kay; and a brother, Harold.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wade of Maud; three daughters, Angela Huckaby of Pitkin, Colorado, Roshel Stabel of Lakin, Kansas, and Christy McClaskey of Maud; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Bob 177, Maud, Oklahoma, 74854.
