Ethel Jewel Cooley, 86, of Bowie, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Bellevue Church of Christ with Lloyd Morris and Sonny Cole officiating.
Burial followed in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooley was born December 12, 1921, in Rock Springs, to Theodore and Sarah Elizabeth Kuykendall. She grew up in Bellevue, where she graduated. She and Lloyd Cooley were married December 31, 1939, in Buffalo Springs. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, and spending time watching her grandchildren play sports. She was Clay County Pioneer Dutchess in 1991. She retired from Bellevue Schools cafeteria after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Helen Mazzo; and two brothers, Lewis and Noel Kuykendall.
Survivors includes two sons, Weldon of Iowa Park, and Jerry of Winona; a daughter, Carla Stark of Newport; three sisters, Lena Kinsey, Ruby Nell Davis, and Hazel Pruitt; three brothers, Lynn, Bud, and Gene Kuykendall; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
