O.L. ‘Curley’ Bowden
1929 - 2014

O.L. ‘Curley’ Bowden, 85, of Electra, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, at his residence.

Services were held Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Electra with Rev. Richard Kirkham officiating.

Interment followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Curley was born Sept. 29, 1929 in Vashti, to Sebe Thomas and Mabel Jewell Harlow Bowden. He attended Electra High School. He and Barbara Trujillo were married on Oct. 16, 1951 in Yuma, AZ. During the Korean conflict, he served in the Navy. He was a mail carrier from 1962 until April 1, 1988 when he retired.

After his retirement, he did day work for several large ranches in New Mexico. He enjoyed showing horses for W.A. Krohn for many years and was a member of the Electra Mule Riders.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Jim Bowden; and two sisters, Billie McAnich and Ina Jacques.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bowden of Electra; two sons, Troy Bowden and Benny Bowden, both of Electra; one daughter, Donna Bowden of Sanger; two brothers, Wayne Bowden of Abilene, and Jake Monty Bowden of Iowa Park; two sisters, Faye Jansen of Rockport, and Donna Hodges of Valley View; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society, 500 North Bailey, Electra, Texas 76360 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
