Max Jeryl Lewis
1931 - 2016

Max Jeryl Lewis, 85, of Wichita Falls passed away Friday, Nov. 4.

Funeral Services wre held Wednesday in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Shields officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.

Max was born on July 23, 1931, in Bluegrove, to the late Archie and Mabel (Owens) Lewis. He married Rita Grussendorf on Dec. 23, 1954, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Midwestern University, and served in the United States Navy. He and his brother were the first set of identical twins to graduate in the same class at Midwestern.

He went to work in Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base, retiring after 43 years. Afterward, he drove a school bus in Wichita Falls. He attended Faith Baptist Church for many years, and was a Dallas Cowboy and Texas Longhorn fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rex D. Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; sons, Gary L. Lewis, Mark J. Lewis, and Greg L. Lewis, all of Wichita Falls, and Allen K. Lewis of Iowa Park; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
