William O. “Bill” Hodges, 87, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, in Bowie.
Services were held Wednesday at the Bellevue United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis Ray Sleeth officiating.
Burial followed at Bellevue Cemetery.
Mr. Hodges was born April 14, 1920, in Wichita County, to William L. and Mattie O. (Goodlett) Hodges. He grew up in Valley View and lived most of his life in Clay and Montague Counties. He was a rancher and served in the United States Navy. He was also an avid golfer. He donated land and helped build the Top O’ Lake Country Club and was a member and former president in 1966 of the Board of Directors. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Methodist Foundation. He was a past school board member for the Bellevue ISD. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; wife, Loujean; a son, Chris; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Bill of Castle Rock, CO.; step-daughters, Deborah Silvi of Houston, and Katherine Knowels of Forney; a brother, Jerry of Iowa Park; a sister, Mary Louise of Ada, OK.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, Bellevue United Methodist Church, or The Boy Scouts of America.
