1934 - 2015
Harvey Light, 80, of Archer City, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, at a Wichita Falls Hospital.
Services were held Saturday, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Graham of the Southside Baptist Church of Olney and Roger Deerinwater of Archer City, officiating. Interment followed in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Harvey was born Dec. 10, 1934 in Throckmorton, to Gaylord Preston Light and Thelma Lee Strickland Light. He and Janie Loftis were married July 23, 2004 in Henrietta. He served from 1954 until 1985, during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged as a Captain. He was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Olney. He was a musician and enjoyed playing in jamborees.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jim Loftis on June 12, 2013.
Survivors include his wife of Archer City; one son, Preston Light of Salem, OR.; three daughters, Paula Jean Kuntz of Burleson, Diane Burnhart of Iowa Park, and Julie Womack of Archer City; one sister, Shirley Reed of Burnett; one brother, Jerry Light of Katy; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
