Sam E. Rice Sr.
1925 - 2008
Sam E. Rice, Sr., 83, of Wichita Falls, died Monday, Dec. 8.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Charlie Cemetery.
Mr. Rice was the son of the late Homer and Bertie (Sanders) Rice, born Feb. 23, 1925, in Clay County. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
After an honorable discharge, he returned to Charlie where he married Dortha Maxine Pepper. He worked at Wilson Foundry 26 years and later became self employed and operated D&M Manufacturing along with his wife.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; a daughter, Jerry Elaine; two brothers, Glenn and Raymond; and his granddaughter, Shannon Elizabeth Symons.
Survivors include two sons, Sam, Jr. of Lake Diversion and Roger of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Karen Sternadel of Wichita Falls and Marsha McCarty of Kamay; two brothers, Homer Paul and Richard, both of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
