Jennie Ruth Brooks

Jennie Ruth Brooks, 89, of Iowa Park and former Coleman resident, died Thursday, Dec. 9, at her residence.

Graveside services were held Sunday, at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Adam Comeaux officiating. Burial was held in the Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brooks was born Jennie Ruth Huffman on Dec. 3, 1921, in Stephenville, to G. W. and Oma Lee Hyles Huffman. She grew up in Stephenville and attended school there. She married Wincel Warren Brooks on Aug. 10, 1942, in Stephenville. The couple moved to Coleman in 1942, where they owned and operated Brooks Laundry. They moved to Iowa Park in 2003, to be closer to family. She was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman.

She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of Iowa Park; two sons, Larval and Dennis, both of Iowa Park; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
