William Ray “Coach” Sefcik, Sr.

William Ray “Coach” Sefcik, Sr., 71, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating. Burial was held at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Ray was born April 4, 1939, in Denver City, to Robert Charlie and Jettie Leona (Beasley) Sefcik. He and Elizabeth Jane Hopkins were married June 30, 2001, in Iowa Park. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park. He was a teacher and coach for the Wichita Falls ISD until his retirement in 1997. He was a 30 year resident of Iowa Park. Coach loved sports of any kind, shooting pool and coaching. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his dog.

His parents and a sister, Charlotte Sefcik preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of Iowa Park; children, Karen Richter of Grand Prairie, Kelei Liggett of Iowa Park, Ray Sefcik, Jr. of Weatherford, Gary Hopkins of Peaster and Glen Hopkins of Highland Village, Texas; siblings, Rose Mary Shook of Hereford, Gordon Sefcik of Denver City, and Louis Sefcik of Iowa Park; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to MDA/ALS Society, 2910 Kemp Blvd #209, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308.
