Wincel Warren Brooks
Wincel W, Brooks age 90 of Iowa Park, Texas and a former Coleman resident died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas with his family, friends and doctor at his side.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with Adam Comeaux officiating. Private graveside will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.
He was born Wincel Warren Brooks on September 14,1920 in Rising Star, Texas to the late William and Beulah Sisson Brooks. He was raised in Rising Star attending and graduating from Rising Star schools. On September 10, 1942 Wincel married Jennie Ruth Huffman in Stephenville and they celebrated sixty eight years of marriage. Jennie preceded him in death on December 9, 2010. He served his country with the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. Wincel and Jennie moved to Coleman in 1942 where they owned and operated Brooks Laundry until retiring in 2006. In September of 2006 they moved to Iowa Park to be close to their family. Wincel was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Lavarl Brook and Dennis Brooks and wife, Virginia, of Iowa Park; five grandchildren; eight great -grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
Wincel was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Mills Brooks, sister & husband Maudine & Sam Buckmaster; a brother , Hector Brooks; and a grandson, Tim Marak.
Barbara Brooks, a daughter-in-law died on December 27, 2010.
