Gann named Defensive MVP in 5-3A All-District basketball list

The future looks bright for the IPHS Lady Hawk basketball team, based on results of the 2008-09 5-3A All-District Girls Basketball selections by conference coaches.

Three of the five Lady Hawks earning post-season honors will return for next season, led by Defensive MVP Presley Gann, a junior.

Teammate Megan Walls, also a junior, was named to the 5-3A First Team, and sophomore Whitney James to the 5-3A Second Team.

Senior Savanna Braziel earned a spot on the 5-3A First Team, and senior Alex Newman was named to the 5-3A Second Team.

Bridgeport’s Kaitlyn Waynen was named Most Valuable Player in 5-3A. Crystal Booth of Wichit a Falls Hirschi was named Offensive MVP. Newcomer of the Year was Burkburnett freshman Macy Cooke, and Coach of the Year is Eddie Fortenberry of the conference champ Sissies.
