Eunice Lillian Schiwart Neely passed away Dec. 15, 2020, after contracting Covid-19.

Services will be held at a later date in Wichita Falls. She was born on Oct. 12, 1937, at home. She grew up in in Lockett, where she graduated from Lockett High School in 1956. She married Tom Neely on May 11, 1957. After the ceremony they drove to Baltimore, Maryland to live until Tom’s term of Army service was finished. They spent twenty-six years together, living in Fayetteville and Pocahontas Arkansas, and Amarillo, Vernon, Odell and Iowa Park. In 1988 Eunice moved to Wichita Falls, at 52 years-old she enrolled as a part-time student at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, selected a major in Social Work and got a part-time job as secretary in Academic Affairs at MSUTexas. She went on to work full-time in the College of Fine Arts, as the Music secretary from 1991 to 1995, completing her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree graduating with honors in May 1992. She was promoted to Administrative Assistant to the College of Fine Arts dean in 1995, a position she held until she retired in 2008. While she was administrative assistant to the Fine Arts dean she also was the secretary for the Theatre and the Mass Communication departments with the help of a part-time student assistant. In 2001 she was the recipient of the President’s Staff Award. Soon after retiring she moved to Great Falls, Montana to be closer to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Laura Jeffersson, Lindley Garner, and Thomas Neely; her sister, Peggy Wallo; and three grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made in her name to your local Humane Society or a cat and/or dog rescue organization of your choice.
