John Meers Hare, Jr., 70, of Wichita Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. 

A celebration of John's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Anchor Baptist Church in Wichita Falls with his son, Rev. Jeremy Hare, officiating. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pacific Avenue Baptist Church in Iowa Park, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park. 

John was born on February 28, 1951 to "Meers" and Ruth (Boroughs) Hare in Brownfield, Texas. He and Lynell Sharp were married on January 6, 1972 in Brownfield. 

Starting in 1980, John served as the pastor of four Baptist churches including Pacific Avenue Baptist Church of Iowa Park, where he served until his passing. He also served as a dispatcher in Communications and as a Chaplain for the Iowa Park Police Department for the last 23 years. 

John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed being with his family. John was passionate about sharing Jesus with others and growing deeper in his walk with his Savior. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Hare, and his father-in-law, Wayne Sharp. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lynell Hare of Wichita Falls; sons Joel Hare and wife, Sheila of Wichita Falls, and Jeremy Hare and wife, Teresa of Wichita Falls; daughters April Hare of Bedford, Texas and Mikayla Williams and husband, Paul of Wichita Falls; mother-in-law Sarah Sharp of Electra; brother-in-law Steve Sharp and wife Carlene of Dean, Texas; brother-in-law Derrel Sharp of Electra, Texas; brother-in-law Larry Sharp and wife Aloha of Humble, Texas;  Sister Wanda Kumpe and husband Mike of Brownfield, Texas; 12 grandchildren, six nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
