Iowa Park City Hall COVID-19 Statement
As the State of Texas shifts into the first phase of the Governor’s plan to safely and strategically open Texas while minimizing the spread of COVID-19, the lobby at City Hall at 103 North Wall in Iowa Park, Texas, will remain closed to the public until further notice to protect the health and safety of employees, customers and the general public. The lobby has been closed since March 23rd to allow City employees to socially distance as well as to allow for the frequent cleaning and sanitation of equipment and surfaces. City employees have also been directed to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and follow any medical advice from their physicians.
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Iowa Park Mayor Ray Schultz formally declared a local state of disaster for the City of Iowa Park on March 20, 2020, and City staff were directed to sanitize City facilities and practice social distancing. After the lobby of City Hall was closed to the public on March 23rd, 2020, City Council resolved to extend the declaration of local disaster until further notice due to public health emergency.
As of May 5, 232 residents of Iowa Park had been tested for COVID-19 and 24 of those tested positive.
The drive-through window at City Hall will remain open during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) for employees, customers and the general public to conduct official business and staff have continued to perform essential functions out of City Hall. An after-hour drop-off box is also available 24/7. Business can also be conducted by telephone (940-592-2131) or via U.S. Mail (P.O. Box 190, Iowa Park, Texas, 76367). City Council will continue to meet as necessary during the emergency; however, meetings may be conducted remotely if necessary. Staff will attempt to accommodate any citizen who wishes to address City Council but request that City Hall (940-592-2131) be contacted in advance to arrange for such accommodations.
The Tom Burnett Memorial Library will remain closed to the public; however, materials can be checked out by calling the library at (940) 592-4981 and checked in at the book drop. Materials may also be requested online. City parks remain open but playgrounds remain closed. Municipal Court will remain closed through phase one of the plan to open Texas. City staff will continue to monitor the pandemic as well as any evolving State and local regulations and make modifications which may be in order.
