Edith Margetta Downs

     Edith Margetta Downs, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Grace of Mankins Baptist Church officiating, along with Paul Kuykendall of Holliday, Texas. Graveside services will follow at the Holliday Cemetery in Holliday, Texas.

     Edith M. Downs, born December 30, 1930 in Montague County to William George Woods and Matilda Margetta (Hodge) Woods. She married JB “Red” Downs, the love of her life on December 17, 1949 in Henrietta, Texas.

     Edith is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Joe Thomas “JT” Woods and JC Woods; sisters, Flora Ann, Gracy Estell, Mary Lee, and Sarah Jasper.

     Surviving relatives include her son, Jackie Downs and wife, LaRonda of Kamay, Texas; daughter, Yvonne Russell and husband, Dale of Iowa Park, Texas; grandchildren, Rusty Downs and wife, Tassie of Kamay; Lacy Downs and partner, Katie of Allen, Texas; and Amanda Moore and husband, Marc of Wichita Falls; great grandchildren, Ryland Downs, Delani Downs, and Morgan Moore.

     The family would like to especially thank Carmen Rivera Casillas, known to Edith as “Best Friend” for her love and care.
