Harlan Cannedy

On Saturday, July 2, 2022, our loving Dad and Papa, Harlan Cannedy, was welcomed into heaven by our Savior.

Harlan Cannedy was born on January 26, 1930, in Gould, Oklahoma to Herb and Zetta Cannedy. He married his loving wife, Christine Roberts on July 13, 1950. Harlan was a cotton farmer in his early years. He later became an independent distributor for Carnation and Oak Farms for 35 plus years. After retiring, Harlan stayed busy spending time with his grandkids and eventually great-grandkids. He was a notorious story-teller and loved to share all the tales of Cannedys past and present. Harlan was known for making his renowned bologna “fold-overs”, coke floats, and chocolate milk – still unmatched by any in the eyes of his grandkids. Also, he had a love for horses that he inherited from his dad. He was an avid horseman breeding and training quarter horse, paint, and thoroughbred racehorses with his brothers.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Christine of 62 years; infant daughter Joyce Elaine; and siblings Paul Cannedy, Mac Cannedy, Joyce Dowdy, Glendale Cannedy, and Sue Ann Shaffer.

Harlan is survived by daughter, Harla Lindsey and husband Clifton of Wichita Falls; son, Marty Cannedy and wife Janet of Wichita Falls; son, Eddy Cannedy and wife Gail of Iowa Park; eight grandkids; ten great-grandkids; siblings Peggy Perkins, Nancy Pepper, Janis McCain; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 am at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas, officiated by Ken Holsberry.
