Iowa Park - Marcus Leroy Carter, 77, of Iowa Park passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020. 

Mark was born on December 17, 1942 in Wichita Falls to the late Bill and Myrtle Carter. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1961. He married his wife, Phyllis, on March 30, 1984. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 through 1966 where he fought in the Vietnam War. Mark spent several years working in oilfield chemical sales. In 1988, Mark and Phyllis purchased Pleasant Valley Grocery where they proudly sold hot links and cold beer for twenty-five years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Clara, TX. He dedicated his later years to taking care of his loving wife and spoiling his grandkids. Mark loved spending time working in his yard, playing in the pool with his grandkids, and zipping around the lake on his Sea-Doos. Mark’s holiday yard decorations were famous around Iowa Park for years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Billie Joe, Jerry, and Bobby Carter; and sisters, Patsy Howell, Carolyn Black, Sue Kiser, and Becky Ablia. 

Mark is survived by wife Phyllis of Iowa Park; daughter Kelly Pogue and husband Kyle of Spring; daughter Donna Davis and husband Randy of Iowa Park; grandchildren Jared Davis and wife Carmen of Iowa Park; Ashley Davis of Dallas; Ryan Kim of Austin, and Caden Pogue of Spring; great grandsons Cooper and Jaxon Davis of Iowa Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park followed by a graveside service at Clara Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Dutton Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Clara, TX.
