     Richard Thomas McCann, 41, passed away at his home in Caddo Mills, Texas on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 after a seven-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

     Richard was born May 27, 1980 in Wichita Falls to Ralph and Jeri McCann.  He grew up in Iowa Park, Texas, and graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1998 where he was Texas State Powerlifting Champion his senior year.  After high school he received a Bachelor degree in Psychology from Texas Tech University, then and a Masters degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. At the time of his death, he was the director of outpatient services at Glen Oaks Hospital.

     While in graduate school, he took a chance on a blind date and met the love of his life, Stephanie Shipp.  They married in Wichita Falls on June 14, 2008 and lived in Rowlett, Texas for several years before moving to Caddo Mills.  They have two daughters, Madeline, 12, and Avery, 10, both of whom adore their dad.  He made them feel very special as he did every person he came in contact with.  Most importantly, he was a man of God, and loved the Lord with all his heart.

     Richard is survived by his wife, Stephanie Shipp McCann and their daughters, Madeline Blair and Avery Harper of Caddo Mills; his mother Jeri McCann Fowler and her husband, Jack, of Iowa Park, Texas; brother, Robert McCann and wife, Decima, and their children, Addison and Logan;  grandmother, Johnie Brown, of Iowa Park;  and in-laws, Steve and Nan Shipp of Wichita Falls;  sister-in-law, Kristin Gonzales, husband, Bryan, and their children, Gavin and Graham; brother-in-law, Blair Shipp, wife, Tara, and their children, Kenadee and Channing.   He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Lee McCann of Iowa Park; half-brother Christopher McCann of Holliday, Texas; and grandparents, Harold “Pawpaw” Brown of Iowa Park; Lucille and Tom Hall of Holliday.

     A visitation for friends and family is scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 6-7:30 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 12 pm at First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.
