Sammy Wayne Henderson

Sammy Wayne Henderson, age 81, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Iowa Park, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at First Christian Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Landon Winstead and Rev. Gary House officiating. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in the chapel at the funeral home. 

Sammy was born on July 27, 1939 in Sunset, Texas to Grady V. and Nancy (Nunnelly) Henderson, moving to and attending school in Valley View and Iowa Park. He married Mona Ruth Shawver on March 21, 1959 in Iowa Park. Sammy went to work in the oil fields at an early age, developing a love for all forms of oil producing. He was owner and operator of Henderson Drilling and Oil Company. He was a life-time member of First Christian Church of Iowa Park, serving as Elder and chairing committees. He was the best daddy and poppa ever and loved spending time with family and friends. 

Sammy was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; baby brother, Junior Henderson; and two sisters, Patsy Russell and Billye Shook. 

Surviving relatives include his daughters, Charmagne Kingcade and husband, Tim; and Shawnee Raines and husband, Joe; one sister, Virginia Catlin all of Iowa Park; grandchildren, Ginger Hodges, Stormi Arnold, Sam Raines, Callie Cole, Tom Kingcade, and Amanda Myers; and 11 great grandchildren.
