Shirley Ann Lowrey, 86, passed away Friday, March 15, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Pastor Jeff Pehl officiating.

Graveside services were held at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Shirley was born June 17, 1932, in Nowata, OK., to Eugene and Mildred (Hagan) Lowrey. In 1943 the Lowrey family moved to Iowa Park. She graduated as the class salutatorian from Iowa Park High School in 1950 and attended Midwestern State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Business Administration, and also her Master’s Degree in Education. She was an auditor for the State of Texas and spent almost 20 years teaching students in Electra and Valley View. She later taught in the American Business College, Vernon Regional Junior College, and the Avalon Business School. She retired at 70 years of age after a long career of teaching. In retirement, Shirley enjoyed her activities with the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member and enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher. Her other activities included membership with the 23 Study Club and the United Methodist Women. She was fond of scrapbooking and known for her handmade greeting cards. She spent the last year at the Elmcroft of Lake Wellington where she enjoyed the social activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ron and James Don Lowrey; and two sisters, Barbara Jean and Betty Jean Lowrey.

Surviving relatives include her sister, Carolyn Trantham of Rock Hill, S. C.
